Went camping with family at Silverdale many times in 1945-50 time. Dad bought a car in 1945 and we went for a holiday to Aylsbury for a caravan (or was it in a tent) holiday in 1948.

School currently listed under schooling. Work: GEC Coventry UK and Nigeria telephones, Bell Canada Montreal, Ottawa, ITT Puerto Rico, Madrid, Brussels, ITI Dallas Texas, Trycom Richardson/Carrollton TX.
Gave up playing soccer at 72 in December 2012.

  Noted events in his life were:

• Schooling, 1943-1950, Ocean Road, Infant and Junior. Attended Ocean Rd Infant and Junior school on Walney. Started school at 4. At the age of 9 was moved up a class as there were too many kids in his class, so he was working with kids a year older. In the one exam he finished 20th and Brian Day who finished 26th passed for the grammar school.
Was captain of the Junior school soccer team and has a photo when he was 9 playing Vickerstown. Teachers were Mrs Roberts, Miss Wells, Miss McClelland, Mr Winder

• Schooling, 1950-1958, Barrow Grammar School. Went to the Barrow Boys Grammar school from 1950-58. Deputy Head boy, prefect for two years, captain of school soccer team for two years. Organized tour of Germany for school soccer team in Ubach Palenberg, Wessling, Bonn, Mannheim and Speyer.
Imperial College BSc Physics 1958-61

• Schooling: Imperial College degree in Physics, Oct 1958, Imperial College, South Kensington, London, England. Stayed in a flat 1958/59 with John Hodson on Raniliegh Gardens, Putney
In Oct 1959 got a place in Weeks Hall on Princes Gardens. Our group of 60 odd students were the first residents of the brand new building. I was lucky enough to stay in the same room for my third year. We had maths classes every morning during the first year but then just Physcis classes after that. I didn't pass the exams at the end of the second year so continued in ordinary degree course. I received my degree in 1961 and the commencent celebration was held in the Albert Hall. Stephen married Jacqueline Mary Travis, daughter of Harold George Travis and Joyce Ingerthorp Allwood, on 28 Mar 1967 in St. Johns, Hartford Cheshire. (Jacqueline Mary Travis was born on 28 Apr 1945 in Pontefract, , Yorkshire, England.)
